Greetings from Vermont! In this NixMashup we’ve got a very link-dense Java 8 reference, template mustaches, PC as Bicycle of the Mind, Winterbe’s Java 8 Tutorial source code, a Java 8 upgrade guide for Ubuntu, and a look at the new eclipse.org prototype site.
All of Your Java 8 Links In a Single Post
This JavaWorld post on Java 8’s release must have 3 or 4 source links in every sentence it seems. Topics include General JDK 8 Information, IDE Support, Lambda Expressions, Date/Time API, Nashorn and Miscellaneous New Libraries and Classes.
I like the idea behind Mustache. Very similar to how CodeJohnny populates templates with the brackets and such. Um, I meant “mustaches.” Clever metaphor! Reading the comments to this 2010 post on mustache.js confirms the fact that “template mustaches” are nothing new.
A short, minute-long video excerpt of Steve Jobs describing computers as bicycles of the mind. Powerful metaphor. Sidenote: The recent “Jobs” movie with Ashton Kutcher is on Netflix Streaming (and maybe Amazon Prime, I don’t know.) It was my second viewing and I enjoyed it much more than when it first came out.
GitHub repository containing the source code of Benjamin Winterberg’s Java 8 Tutorial. I created an Eclipse Project with it and found it useful to walk through working Java 8 code.
One of the best Java 8 Lambda tutorials that I’ve read. From October, 2013, but good description of streams and the logic behind Lambda operations. SQL analogies were used in some cases which helped describe the Lambda Logic.

Excellent Java 8 tutorial series and reference to bookmark.
Upgrading to Oracle Java 8 in Ubuntu
The very best Oracle Java Upgrade Guide I ever wrote!
A prototype of the new eclipse.org is online, with a survey for your feedback.
