Consider this post an update to Mkyong’s excellent How To Setup Wicket Examples in Eclipse, but targeting Wicket 6.13 and Eclipse 4.3.
The first tip I can pass along from experience is to download the Wicket Source Code Tar. I was stumbling out of the gate until I realized I was looking through my Wicket Binaries download for what I needed. So you’ll want apache-wicket-6.13.0.tar.gz.
Explode the Tar and copy the wicket-examples folder to the Eclipse project folder you plan to use.
Go into the Wicket Examples Eclipse folder and build the project with Maven.
You may be tempted to use a more current version of the Web Tools Platform (current is 3.5.1), but if you do the build will fail with the message.
Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-eclipse-plugin:2.9:eclipse (default-cli) on project wicket-examples: Unsupported WTP version: 3.5.1. This plugin currently supports only the following versions: 1.0 1.5 2.0 R7 none.
After creating the Eclipse project in Maven we import it into Eclipse. Look at those sweet Java files!
We need to add Tomcat support to the project.
And there are our examples!
